The objectives of the South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society are:

The advancement of the standard of shoulder and elbow surgery in South Africa by contact and discussion amongst the members of the Society.

To aid and stimulate interest in the problems encountered with regard to the shoulder and elbow in medical practice.

To form educational links with international bodies with similar interests.

SASES Shoulder Certificate 2024 Application

In 2024, The Society of South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (SASES) is proud to announce the launch the SASES Certificate in shoulder surgery.

This will be an annual, 1-year (January to December) program aimed at newly qualified orthopaedic surgeons who would liketo advance their knowledge and skills in shoulder and elbow surgery but are unable to commit to a fulltime shoulder and elbow fellowship. More information and application information will be available shortly.


The South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons’ Society is made up of South African Orthopaedic surgeons with a super-specialist interest in in surgery of the shoulder and elbow.

The organization seeks to:

  *   serve patients, members and society by advancing shoulder and elbow care

The Society of South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons wishes to provide patients with

access to information regarding shoulder pathology. Shoulder related pathologies and its

relevant treatment protocols evolve constantly. Information provided to patients has to be

updated regularly and tailored to a patient’s specific needs.
